Under this initiative, more than 750 industrial units in Gujarat are currently being integrated into a modern Industry 4.0 ecosystem. This extensive project in Gujarat is designed as a blueprint, with the government planning to establish similar advanced digital manufacturing ecosystems across the country to ensure small businesses in every state can reap the benefits of the digital industrial revolution.

PG Subramanian, Executive Secretary of the Indian Cutting Tool Manufacturers Association, highlighted the immense growth potential for domestic players, noting that the Indian cutting tool industry is undergoing a structural transformation fueled by a booming domestic manufacturing market. Currently, the global cutting tool market is valued at approximately USD 23 billion and is projected to expand to nearly USD 30 billion by the year 2030. According to industry estimates, India's current share in this massive global market is hovering around only 15%.
This market reality indicates a vast room for growth, offering domestic manufacturers substantial opportunities to scale up operations both for meeting local demand and expanding their export portfolios. To seize these opportunities, MSMEs need to become more aware of and leverage the vast support systems available. There are currently about 40 different government schemes designed to assist this sector, ranging from technological upgrade programs to direct financial and development support for promising startups. Bridging the information gap and simplifying access to these schemes remains a critical objective for the industry.
