Giving a massive boost to industrial growth in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has inaugurated Crompton Greaves' new power transformer manufacturing unit in Sehore district. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized that his administration remains fully committed to attracting investments and fostering industrial expansion across the state, noting that robust investments are vital for creating sustainable employment opportunities for local youth. The government is fully prepared to extend total support to all investors, big and small alike. Highlighting recent infrastructural additions, he mentioned that just two days prior, a foundation stone was laid for a cable manufacturing factory entailing an investment of Rs 106 crore. On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, the state witnessed the inauguration of the new power transformer factory set up by CG Power and Industrial Solutions at a total cost of Rs 888 crore.
Inaugurations and Foundation Stones of Major Companies in Eight Months
The Chief Minister noted that over the past eight months alone, several units belonging to major corporate giants like Godrej have either been inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid. In the Gwalior-Chambal region, Godrej Industries has commenced operations at its fourth and Asia's largest manufacturing unit dedicated to producing soap. He stated that propelled by the pro-industry policies of the state government, a healthy competition is thriving among prominent national companies to set up their manufacturing bases within Madhya Pradesh. The arrival of these new factories goes beyond mere product assembly, actively contributing to the state's broader economic prosperity, enhanced tax collection, and the creation of substantial job opportunities.
World's Largest Transformer Manufacturing Unit Built in Just 13 Months
Praising the strategic advantages of the region, Mohan Yadav remarked that Sehore is secure, highly reliable for investments, and assures strong returns. The district is witnessing rapid developmental strides within the tourism sector and now forms an integral part of the Bhopal Metropolitan City, a status that will yield long-term benefits for local residents. The newly established power transformer manufacturing unit by CG Power and Industrial Solutions is set to play a pivotal role in transforming the nation's entire electrical ecosystem. From tyres to high-capacity transformers, a diverse range of goods is now being manufactured in Sehore. Currently, Madhya Pradesh's economic growth rests firmly on five core pillars: passion, potential, policy, performance, and production. Marking a historic milestone in its nine-decade journey, CG Power and Industrial Solutions has brought this mega facility to the soil of Madhya Pradesh. Following the foundation stone laying ceremony in August last year, the world's largest transformer manufacturing factory in Sehore has commenced operations in a record span of just 13 months, delivering a monumental gift to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.
Annual Production Capacity of 365 Transformers in Sehore
Elaborating on the scale of the facility, it was announced that the unit will manufacture 365 transformers annually while providing jobs to approximately 2,000 workers. Furthermore, the state government has assured complete assistance in clearing surrounding vacant land of minor and major wild shrubbery to facilitate smooth operations and potential future expansions for CG Power and Industrial Solutions.
India's Economy Marches Forward at a Rapid Pace
Discussing the broader macroeconomic landscape, the Chief Minister underscored that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the national economy is expanding at a brisk pace, with Madhya Pradesh keeping step stride for stride. Recent economic indicators reveal that India's growth rate stands highest globally at 7.8 percent, whereas the United States lags at just 2 percent and China at 4 percent. India continues to accelerate the momentum of its economic expansion. In this context, Union Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has asserted that the United States must open up its trade deals before India takes subsequent steps, making it clear that national interests will never be compromised in such matters.
World's Largest Transformer Testing Lab Now Established in Sehore
CG Power and Industrial Solutions CEO Amar Caul described the milestone as a crucial chapter for the company. Pointing out Prime Minister Narendra Modi's target to elevate the share of manufacturing in India's GDP from 13 percent to 25 percent by 2035, he stated that the new Crompton Greaves power transformer manufacturing unit in Sehore has successfully employed around 2,000 individuals. The plant will roll out 35 transformers every month, with individual units comparable in physical scale to a three-storey bungalow. Production is being driven by advanced machinery, housing what is claimed to be the world's largest testing laboratory within the facility. To meet its energy requirements sustainably, 36 percent of the factory's electricity will be sourced from solar energy. Backed by proactive administrative support, the Sehore plant progressed from inception to production in a record 13 months, reaffirming the company's firm dedication toward building a developed nation and a prosperous Madhya Pradesh.
