A routine car ride turned frightening for a cloth trader and his wife in Indore's Rawji Bazar area after two men on a motorcycle flew into a rage over a trivial matter and smashed the windscreen of their car with a glass bottle. Fortunately, neither the trader nor his wife was hurt in the attack. Police acted swiftly and took both accused into custody within hours of the incident.
How the Confrontation Began
Cloth trader Piyush Manwani was driving with his wife when two young men riding a motorcycle came up from behind and began overtaking their car recklessly, without any apparent provocation. According to Rawji Bazar police station in charge Umesh Yadav, the duo pulled their bike close to the car and started slapping it repeatedly with their hands. Rattled by the sudden aggression, Piyush stopped the car, hoping to find out what the problem was and put an end to the confrontation. Instead, the situation escalated further.
Bottle Hurled at the Window, Glass Shatters
As soon as the car stopped, the man riding pillion got off, walked up to the vehicle in anger and began hurling abuses. Without a second thought, he smashed a glass bottle he was carrying straight into the car's window, shattering the glass instantly. Terrified, the couple stayed put inside the car and did not step out during the attack. The only silver lining was that despite the broken window, neither Piyush nor his wife suffered any injuries.
Police Move Fast, Arrest Both Accused
As soon as word of the attack reached the local police station, officers swung into action. A team led by station in charge Umesh Yadav launched a search and managed to trace and detain both suspects within a short span of time. Police said the two accused have been arrested and brought to the police station, where they are being questioned in detail. Investigators are now trying to establish exactly what triggered such a violent reaction over what appeared to be a minor road dispute, and whether the two men had any prior history of similar behaviour.
Charges Filed Against the Accused
Police have registered a case against the accused under sections related to violating public order and causing intentional damage to property, and further legal proceedings have been initiated. Officers say the investigation is still ongoing and additional charges could be added depending on what the questioning reveals. Incidents like this raise fresh concerns about road safety and the way minor disagreements between motorists can spiral into violence within moments.
