Rare 'Miyazaki' Mangoes Grown in Seoni
An agricultural milestone has been reached in the Barghat region of Seoni. A local farmer, Dhansingh Rahangdale, has successfully cultivated the world's most expensive variety of mango, known as the Miyazaki, in his orchard in the village of Paunarkala. These plants were set two years ago and have produced fruit for the first time. Known globally as 'Red Gold' due to its exquisite sweetness, aroma, and nutritional profile, this fruit can fetch prices between 2 to 3 lakh rupees per kilogram in the international market. After harvesting the first yield, Dhansingh Rahangdale visited the Maa Mahakali Temple in Ashta with his family to offer the produce at the deity's feet. This successful cultivation has become a major topic of discussion across the district and the state.
Chhattisgarh Urban Body Elections Scheduled
The State Election Commission has commenced preparations for the upcoming urban body and municipal corporation elections in Chhattisgarh, which are set to take place in December 2026. A total of 15 urban bodies are slated for the polls, including four municipal corporations, five municipal councils, and 6 nagar panchayats. Notably, this will be the inaugural election for the newly formed nagar panchayats of Tamnar and Badi Kareli. Along with the general elections, the commission is also organizing processes for necessary by-elections.
Police Question Nana Patwari
In Indore, the suspense surrounding Nana Patwari, brother of state Congress president Jitu Patwari, eased slightly as Rajendra Nagar police released him after hours of questioning. The police intervention followed the interrogation of two arrested drug peddlers who had allegedly mentioned Nana Patwari's name. DCP Narendra Rawat confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that Patwari may be summoned again if required. The police are currently analyzing call detail records (CDR) and other evidence collected during the investigation. As a condition, Patwari has been instructed not to leave Indore until the probe concludes. Police are focused on uncovering the wider network and connections linked to the arrested peddlers.
Bounty Announced in Bhopal Double Murder
Bhopal Police have intensified their search for the suspects involved in a double murder case by announcing a reward of ₹50000 for any information leading to their arrest. Authorities have also released CCTV footage of the suspects to aid in public identification. The incident occurred on June 24, 2026, when an elderly couple, Hemant Barik and Shakuntala Parikh, were shot dead. Police have provided dedicated contact numbers for the public to share any relevant leads regarding the perpetrators.
