A shocking case has emerged from Ward No. 5 of Dindori district headquarters in Madhya Pradesh, where a 23-year-old woman who had moved into her marital home just two and a half months ago was found dead on Monday, hanging inside the house. As soon as word reached her parents, they rushed to Dindori, and once there, levelled direct accusations of harassment against her in-laws, while police are now examining every angle of the case.
Body discovered in a Ward No. 5 home
According to police, Khushbu Sahu was found hanging from a noose inside her in-laws' house in Ward No. 5. Someone alerted the local Kotwali police, and a team that reached the spot completed the required panchnama procedure before sending the body to the district hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police officials say whether this was a suicide or whether something else lies behind the death can only be confirmed once the post-mortem report comes in and the investigation is complete.
A phone call on Monday evening, then tragic news
The case took a serious turn when the deceased woman's family accused her in-laws of harassment. The family says they received a call from the in-laws' side on Monday evening informing them that Khushbu's health had suddenly deteriorated. On hearing this, her parents and other relatives, who live in Lalpur, immediately left for Dindori. By the time they arrived, however, Khushbu was already dead, and the family found only her body. The shock has left the entire family devastated, and mourning now grips the household.
Relatives said Khushbu Sahu was married to Ankit Sahu, a resident of Dindori, on May 6, 2026, according to Hindu rites. They said Khushbu had returned to her in-laws' home with her husband only a few days earlier, and news of her death, coming just two days later, has left everyone stunned.
SDOP and tehsildar reach the hospital, record statements
Given the seriousness of the incident, Dindori's SDOP Satish Dwivedi and the tehsildar personally went to the district hospital, where they recorded statements from the deceased woman's family. Police have opened a formal investigation into the case and are examining every aspect connected to the incident.
Harassment allegations also under investigation
Police are also trying to determine whether Khushbu was subjected to mental or physical harassment after her marriage. If the probe uncovers concrete evidence linking her death to harassment, police will take further action under the relevant legal provisions. For now, police say the investigation is being carried out impartially, and further steps will depend on the post-mortem report and other evidence.
