The investigation into Pune's high-profile Ketan Agarwal murder case is turning up fresh and disturbing details almost every day. Fiancée Siya Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary reportedly spent time carefully planning Ketan's killing well in advance, and their preparation went far beyond simply plotting the crime. According to investigators, the two allegedly rehearsed exactly how they would push Ketan off a hill so that no one watching would suspect foul play, treating the murder almost like a scripted sequence they had tested beforehand.
Siya researched the Raja Raghuvanshi case beforehand
According to investigating agencies, before carrying out the murder, Siya Goyal searched the internet for information related to the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case in Indore. Police also found that she had searched on her phone whether women are beaten while in police custody. This information surfaced during the examination of Siya's two mobile phones, leading police to suspect she was preparing herself in advance for the possibility of being arrested and questioning what might happen to her once the crime came to light.
The pair spoke in code words, second phone seized from bedroom
Police have seized another mobile phone from Siya Goyal's bedroom, in addition to the handset she was already using. The investigation also revealed that Siya and Chetan communicated with each other using code words over the phone so that no one around them would catch on to their plot. Chetan reportedly used two different numbers on the same handset, apparently to keep his communications with Siya separate from his everyday calls. Sources say one of Chetan's close friends knew that the two were plotting Ketan's murder well before it happened. Police have also located some eyewitnesses from the day of the incident, whose statements, along with other evidence gathered so far, are strengthening the case against the accused.
Police made Siya reenact the crime in Pune's Lulla Nagar
Investigating officers said that on Thursday, police took Siya Goyal to the Lulla Nagar area of Pune and asked her to reenact the entire sequence of events leading up to Ketan's death. Police claim it was during this reenactment that it emerged the two accused had practiced pushing Ketan off the hill before actually committing the murder, indicating they had tested their plan multiple times beforehand to make sure nothing would go wrong on the day itself.
How the murder unfolded at Lohagad Fort
Police said that on June 18, 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal had gone to visit Lohagad Fort along with his fiancée Siya Goyal. Siya's boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary was already present at the location and was following the couple as they moved through the fort. Investigators found that when Ketan reached the spot the two accused had already picked out in advance, Siya sat down on the ground, which was a signal the two had pre-decided between themselves. Following this signal, Chetan allegedly pushed Ketan into a gorge nearly 350 feet deep. Ketan died on the spot, and the investigation into how the two accused planned every step of the crime is still continuing.
