A high-profile jewelry burglary has created a stir in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, after a gang stole approximately 1.5 kg of gold from Vishwash Jewellers. The incident took place in the busy Shahaganj area of the city, where the perpetrators gained entry into the establishment posing as ordinary shoppers. According to details regarding the crime, the syndicate comprised six individuals in total, including four women dressed in burqas and two male accomplices who coordinated to carry out the operation.
Salesman Distracted Under the Pretext of Browsing Jewelry
The theft was executed following a calculated strategy. Initial findings suggest that members of the syndicate carried out reconnaissance of the showroom prior to the heist to study employee movements and store layout. On the day of the incident, the suspects avoided entering as a single group. Instead, all six members arrived at different intervals, walking into the store individually disguised as prospective buyers so as not to trigger any suspicion among the store staff or security personnel.
Once inside the showroom, the four burqa-clad women asked to examine various gold ornaments, engaging the salesman on duty and keeping his attention completely diverted. Taking advantage of the salesman's divided focus, one of the male suspects reached beneath the sales counter, grabbed a container packed with 1.5 kg of gold, and concealed it. The perpetrators then discreetly slipped out of the store with the stolen gold box. The showroom staff realized the theft only after noticing the missing inventory container later, following which they alerted law enforcement authorities.
Police Department Alerted as Senior Officials Scan CCTV Footage
The news of the major gold heist created an immediate stir within the local police department. Given the gravity of the incident, senior police officers, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police, rushed to the scene at Shahaganj to inspect the premises and direct the preliminary investigation. Law enforcement personnel secured the establishment to collect physical and technical evidence.
Investigators are closely reviewing the surveillance footage captured by the CCTV cameras installed inside the showroom to ascertain the exact identity of the suspects. Police teams are also tracing the entry and exit routes used by the gang and checking potential hideouts across the surrounding commercial zones. Although active search operations are underway across multiple locations, no arrests have been made and no concrete leads regarding the whereabouts of the culprits have been uncovered so far. Senior officers confirmed that the probe is actively progressing based on surveillance records.
