A disturbing incident has come to light from Nagpur, Maharashtra, where a doctor at a private hospital was found dead inside his cabin after allegedly giving himself an overdose of anesthesia. The deceased has been identified as Dr. Ishwar Chandra Narhari Chandekar, who served as a Resident Medical Officer at Neuran Spine and Critical Care Center in the Dhantoli locality. He was also actively involved in the administrative operations of the hospital. The incident reportedly took place on Monday, with preliminary investigations pointing to a self-administered anesthesia overdose as the cause of death.
No Response from the Cabin, Staff Broke Down the Door
Hospital staff first grew suspicious when they noticed a complete absence of movement or sound from Dr. Chandekar's cabin. Despite calling out to him repeatedly and making multiple attempts to get in touch, there was no response from inside. Growing increasingly concerned, staff eventually decided to break open the cabin door. What they found inside came as a shock. The doctor was lying unconscious on the floor. Staff immediately attempted to administer first aid in an effort to revive him, but by then it was already too late. He had lost his life before any help could reach him.
Mental Stress and Family Disputes in the Days Before the Tragedy
Investigators looking into the circumstances surrounding his death have found that Dr. Ishwar Chandra Narhari Chandekar had been going through considerable mental stress in the days leading up to the incident. Family disputes had reportedly been weighing heavily on him in recent times. It also emerged that he had not returned home for five to six days before his death and had been staying at the hospital itself throughout that period.
Police Register Case, Post-Mortem Examination Ordered
Hospital staff promptly alerted the police after the body was discovered. Officers arrived at the scene, registered a formal case, and conducted a panchnama of the body. The remains were then sent to a medical hospital for post-mortem examination. Authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation across all angles of the case, working to piece together what drove the doctor to take such an extreme step.
