A horrifying incident unfolded on Tuesday night in the Manish Nagar area of Nagpur, falling under the jurisdiction of the Beltarodi police station. Two railway employees were discovered in a pool of blood inside Room 302 of a local hotel. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Shivani Gajbhiye, succumbed to multiple severe stab wounds at the scene. Meanwhile, 40-year-old Kiran Aatram was found critically injured beside her. Preliminary police findings suggest that a heated altercation led Kiran to launch a deadly attack on Shivani before attempting to take his own life.
Screams in Room 302 Lead to Shocking Discovery
The duo had checked into the Manish Nagar hotel on Tuesday afternoon. Later that evening, hotel staff were alerted by loud screams echoing from Room 302. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the staff rushed toward the room. When no response was received from inside despite the commotion, emergency contacts and law enforcement were alerted. A blood-stained knife was recovered near the victims. Authorities suspect that an argument regarding their relationship and marriage prospects quickly spiraled out of control, resulting in the violent attack.
Phone Search and Argument Escalated to Violence
Investigative details reveal that Shivani Gajbhiye, a resident of Ramabai Nagar, and Kiran Aatram had been involved in a relationship for some time. However, frequent disputes in recent weeks had severely strained their bond. Kiran reportedly harbored suspicions that Shivani was becoming distant. To address these growing differences, Kiran requested Shivani to meet him at the hotel on Tuesday afternoon. After entering the room, Kiran searched Shivani's mobile phone and encountered certain text chats and photographs that deeply disturbed him, intensifying his doubts about her fidelity. The discovery provoked an intense argument, during which Shivani reportedly expressed her intention to end the relationship. Overwhelmed by anger, Kiran repeatedly stabbed Shivani with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries that caused her immediate death.
Distress Call to Friends Triggers Door-Busting Rescue
Following the attack, Kiran turned the knife on himself in an attempt to end his life. In a deteriorating condition, he phoned several of his friends, stating that he was dying. Alarmed by his frantic message, his friends rushed directly to the hotel. With the assistance of the hotel management, they broke open the locked door of Room 302. Inside, they found both individuals severely injured. Shivani showed no signs of life, while Kiran was nearly unconscious due to heavy blood loss.
Police Investigation and a Separate Incident in Washim
Officers from the Beltarodi police station arrived promptly at the spot and dispatched both individuals to a nearby hospital. Medical staff formally declared Shivani deceased upon arrival, while Kiran was admitted for critical emergency care. Investigators are examining whether the crime was premeditated or committed in a sudden fit of rage. In an unrelated event elsewhere in the state, the bodies of two individuals identified as 26-year-old Mahadev Nimbalkar and 19-year-old Nikita Kamble were retrieved from a pond in Washim district. Local police in Washim have registered a case and are probing the mystery from both murder and suicide angles.
