Hindalco Industries Limited, the flagship metal company of the Aditya Birla Group, announced its consolidated financial results for the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27 (Q1FY27) on Friday. The company delivered a stellar operational performance, posting a 75 percent year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 7,013 crore. In the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year, the consolidated net profit stood at Rs 4,004 crore. Favorable realizations across metal segments and strong demand contributed to this impressive bottom-line expansion.

The company's consolidated net revenue from operations also witnessed robust growth during the reviewed quarter, rising 32 percent year-on-year to reach Rs 84,825 crore compared to Rs 64,232 crore recorded in Q1FY26. Reflecting the strong profitability improvement, Hindalco's earnings per share (EPS) surged to Rs 31.58 during Q1FY27, up significantly from Rs 18.03 reported in the matching period of the previous financial year.

When evaluated against the sequential March quarter (Q4FY26), Hindalco demonstrated substantial quarter-on-quarter growth across key financial parameters. In the March 2026 quarter, the company had reported a net profit of Rs 2,597 crore. The Q1FY27 profit figure of Rs 7,013 crore represents more than a two-fold increase over the preceding quarter.

In terms of top-line performance, net revenue from operations in the March quarter had stood at Rs 78,133 crore. The expansion to Rs 84,825 crore in the first quarter highlights sustained demand resilience and operational strength across Hindalco's operational units.

Novelis Operations: Revenue Expansion Amid Supply Disruptions

Novelis, the overseas subsidiary of Hindalco, reported a 23 percent year-on-year increase in consolidated net revenue from operations, totaling Rs 54,763 crore for Q1FY27 compared to Rs 40,362 crore in Q1FY26. Higher average market pricing for aluminium supported the top-line performance during the quarter under review.

However, Novelis faced operational hurdles stemming from a fire incident at its Oswego manufacturing site, resulting in an estimated shipment loss of 33 kt. Consequently, Novelis EBITDA per tonne declined by 6 percent sequentially to $512. Additionally, Novelis net debt increased by 17 percent quarter-on-quarter to $7.9 billion, representing an operational overhang for the business in the near term.
