RDI Industries got a rousing welcome from the stock market on Wednesday, opening its trading life at a hefty premium and handing investors a tidy gain on day one. The shares did surrender some of that early surge as the session wore on, yet they still finished nearly 27 percent above the issue price. For anyone lucky enough to land an allotment, the listing turned into an instantly profitable bet.
How the Stock Moved on BSE and NSE
On the BSE, the RDI Industries share opened at ₹73.60, a full 38.86 percent above its ₹53 issue price. After a day of swings it settled at ₹67.13, up 26.66 percent. Over on the NSE the stock debuted at ₹72, or 35.84 percent above the issue price, and closed 26.64 percent higher at ₹67.12. By the end of the listing day the company's market capitalisation had climbed to ₹2,115.94 crore. Trading was brisk too, with 125.16 lakh shares changing hands on the BSE and 1,302.76 lakh shares on the NSE.
Investors Piled Into the Offer
The IPO ran from August 5 to August 7 and drew an enormous response over those three days. It was subscribed a staggering 133.66 times, meaning demand outstripped the shares on sale many times over. That appetite helped the company mop up ₹426 crore through the issue. The price band was fixed at ₹50 to ₹53 for shares carrying a face value of ₹2. Once the issue closed, the allotment was finalised on August 10 and the shares landed in investors' accounts on August 11.
Where the Money Will Go
The offer combined fresh shares worth up to ₹320 crore with an offer for sale (OFS) of 1.99 crore shares. The company plans to spread the fresh proceeds across several needs. Of that pool, ₹220 crore is earmarked for its additional working capital requirements, while ₹22 crore will go towards paying down debt. Whatever remains will be channelled into general corporate purposes.
The Business Behind the Stock
RDI Industries operates in the circular economy space. The company recycles end-of-life energy storage products and non-ferrous metal scrap, giving materials that have outlived their original use a fresh lease of life. This recycling work forms the backbone of its business.
