Shares of Suzlon Energy suffered a sharp correction during Tuesday's intraday trading session, plunging nearly 9.5 percent after the renewable energy major announced a decline in its quarterly profit. The financial performance for the first quarter of the financial year 2027 weighed heavily on investor sentiment, triggering widespread selling across the counter.
Financial Performance and Net Profit
Suzlon Energy posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 305.22 crore for Q1FY27. This represents a 6 percent decline compared to the net profit of Rs 324.32 crore reported during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. In comparison, the company had recorded a significantly higher net profit of Rs 1,114.35 crore in Q4FY26.
Stock Market Performance and Valuation
On Tuesday, July 28, the company's stock settled 9.7 percent lower at Rs 47.98 per share on BSE, resulting in a total market capitalisation of Rs 65,942.58 crore. Throughout the trading session, the renewable energy stock fluctuated between an intraday high of Rs 53.21 per share and an intraday low of Rs 47.84 per share.
Operational Revenue Breakdown
Despite the slight contraction in net profit, the company maintained robust operating revenue numbers during the quarter. Suzlon Energy reported a net revenue from operations of Rs 3,819.36 crore for Q1FY27, up from Rs 3,117.33 crore in the year-ago period. While operational revenue stood at Rs 5,468.06 crore in Q4FY26, the total revenue from operations for the quarter under review reached Rs 3,862.53 crore.
Segment-wise, the renewable energy division generated an estimated Rs 3,174.31 crore in Q1FY27 compared to Rs 2,494.57 crore in Q1FY26. Revenue from RE asset management services stood at Rs 631.88 crore, while the foundry and forging segment brought in Rs 125.86 crore during the same quarter.
Order Book Expansion and Leadership Insights
The company highlighted that it executed its highest-ever deliveries during the opening quarter of FY27. According to its official communications, Suzlon secured approximately 1 GW of new orders from major players including Tata Power, Sunsure Energy, and Waaree. This included two major DevCo-led engineering, procurement, and construction orders from Tata Power and Waaree Group.
