Administrative operations in Siaha district took a major step forward on Friday as Chief Minister Lalduhoma officially inaugurated the newly constructed Deputy Commissioner’s Office building located within the DC Office Complex. The ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including 40-Palak (ST) Assembly Constituency MLA K. Hrahmo and several senior government officials, marking the formal opening of a facility designed to streamline public administration in the region.
Landmark Development and Recognition of Donors
Terming the inauguration a milestone for both Siaha district and Mizoram, Chief Minister Lalduhoma expressed deep appreciation to local residents who voluntarily relinquished their land and property without demanding any financial compensation. This community gesture made it possible for the administration to establish the new office building in a central and easily accessible location. The Chief Minister also emphasized that the state government is executing extensive infrastructure initiatives across the district, leveraging various Central government schemes to accelerate regional progress.
Financial Framework and Support for Local Bodies
Addressing state fiscal matters, Lalduhoma highlighted the governance guidelines following the creation of the Mizoram Finance Commission. He explained that the state government, Autonomous District Councils, and other local administrative bodies must strictly operate within their allocated financial shares. Taking note of the acute economic distress currently experienced by the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC), the Chief Minister announced that the state administration intends to provide a One Time Grant to assist the council in mitigating its financial burden.
Construction Timeline and Building Specifications
Expressing relief and appreciation, District Bawrhsap V.L. Hruaizela Khiangte thanked the Chief Minister for his constant encouragement and assistance throughout the project. He noted that moving into a permanent structure brings immense satisfaction after district administration officials functioned out of temporary setups for many years.
Built under the North Eastern Development Programme (NEDP), the project was sanctioned at a work order cost of Rs 5.09 crore. Construction work commenced on October 31, 2018, and reached final completion on December 1, 2025. The new administrative facility comprises 29 rooms in total, featuring 17 rooms on the ground floor and 12 rooms on the first floor.
