Shares of Ola Electric Mobility witnessed heavy buying interest on Wednesday, September 23, jumping nearly 10% on the back of elevated trading volumes. The rally marks the third consecutive session of gains for the electric two-wheeler manufacturer. Opening at Rs. 38.25 on the BSE, the stock touched an intraday high of Rs. 42.36, with roughly 94 lakh shares exchanging hands during trading hours as investors responded positively to recent operational and strategic updates.
By 1 PM, the stock was hovering at Rs. 41.10 on the BSE, up 8.8% for the day. Across the past week, Ola Electric shares have accumulated gains of 9.13%. Despite the ongoing rebound, the scrip remains 30% below its 52-week peak of Rs. 59.20, which was recorded on September 23, 2025. Market observers link the latest price action to signs of improving sequential operating performance, market share stabilization, progress in manufacturing expansion, and anticipation surrounding the proposed capital raise.
Proposed Fundraising and Balance Sheet Expansion
To support its long-term manufacturing and expansion footprint, the company has initiated steps to bolster its financial foundation. Earlier in September, the board of directors of Ola Electric Mobility passed an enabling resolution to raise up to Rs. 1,500 crore through equity shares or other permitted instruments. The proposed capital infusion is intended to provide the EV maker with greater financial flexibility, subject to standard regulatory and shareholder approvals.
In tandem with the fundraising plan, the board cleared an increase in the company's authorized share capital from Rs. 8,318.50 crore to Rs. 8,721.87 crore. Key corporate approvals and broader strategic outlines will be taken up at the company's upcoming annual general meeting, which is scheduled for September 30.
Indigenous Bharat Cell LFP Technology and S1Z Launch
Product pipeline developments have also played a central role in driving market sentiment. CEO Bhavish Aggarwal recently unveiled the S1Z scooter range, representing Ola Electric's first vehicle series powered by indigenous Bharat Cell LFP battery architecture. The cell technology was designed at the firm's dedicated Battery Innovation Centre and is manufactured locally at its Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu. Bookings for the entry-tier S1Z lineup commenced last month, starting at Rs. 79,999.
The aggressive pricing structure is designed to penetrate deeper into the mass-market commuter segment, lowering the entry barrier for prospective electric scooter buyers across regional markets.
Dealer Network Expansion and Brokerage Assessment
Direct distribution is undergoing a parallel transition as the company rolls out its inaugural cohort of dealer-operated partner outlets across Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. Chief Business Officer Manoj Murali highlighted that the new dealership structure will take the S1Z's mainstream pricing directly into high-demand regional clusters across the country.
Despite these expansion initiatives, institutional analysts urge caution regarding operational hurdles. Emkay Global noted in a recent assessment that while Ola is adopting operational measures to curb cash burn and improve brand perception, including resolving customer service bottlenecks, the turnaround remains demanding. The brokerage pointed to quarterly operating expenditure guidance of Rs. 3 billion and Rs. 3.8 billion for Q4FY26. Citing heightened rivalry from established legacy players and rapid scaling by Ather Energy, Emkay Global maintained a Sell rating on the stock with a target price of Rs. 30, based on 3.5 times enterprise value to sales for the auto division.
