A comprehensive review of the administrative and operational framework of the Nagaland Public Service Commission was conducted by Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav during a high-level session organized at Lok Bhavan in Kohima. The evaluation encompassed the historical background of the recruiting body, its current staffing structure, ongoing institutional initiatives, milestones, operational hurdles, and strategic roadmap for upcoming recruitments. Commission representatives highlighted that surging applicant numbers across multiple competitive sectors have substantially magnified their operational commitments.
Overview of Recruitment Drives and Candidate Volume
During the briefing, authorities presented a detailed account of examinations administered across the 2025-26 cycle. These assessments spanned crucial administrative, technical, and specialized vocations, including the Nagaland Civil Services and Allied Services Examination, the joint NCS, NPS and Allied Services Examination, Engineering Services, Medical Services, Technical Services, and Stenographer recruitments. Official records indicated that the NCS and Allied Services recruitment alone attracted 16,433 registrations, alongside 5,813 applications registered for the combined NCS and NPS selection, demonstrating the substantial operational scale managed by the state body.
Promotion Clearances and Modernization of Exam Formats
The operational output of the Departmental Promotion Committee was also scrutinized during the proceedings. Within the timeframe extending from April to August 2026, the commission successfully resolved 444 individual service files, consisting of 163 career elevations and 281 service regularisation files. Alongside service clearances, authorities outlined structural revisions underway within competitive examinations. The updated syllabus frameworks and altered testing patterns for civil and police services aim to elevate standards by rigorously testing candidate analytical aptitude, general awareness, and administrative competencies.
Digital Milestones and Pressing Logistical Constraints
Technological modernisation remains a key focal point for the recruiting body. The Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology conferred a certificate of appreciation upon the commission following the integration of its registration platform with DigiLocker. Consequently, Nagaland stands as the pioneering state across Northeast India, and the third nationally, to deploy integrated DigiLocker and eSign mechanisms for paperless public hiring. However, commission leadership emphasized critical challenges, notably inadequate examination venues capable of accommodating expanding candidate batches, coupled with pressing needs for additional workforce capacity and expansive dedicated facilities. Forward-looking measures include introducing a three-tier model for Combined Technical Services, facilitating digital submission of department requisitions, and constructing a dedicated examination hall within the commission premises.
