With Diwali and Chhath Puja approaching, securing confirmed berths on regular long-distance trains becomes extraordinarily difficult. To mitigate the travel squeeze, North Central Railway has scheduled a dedicated weekly special service linking the national capital with Danapur in Bihar, offering crucial connectivity across key intermediate stations in Uttar Pradesh.
Coach Configuration and Seating Arrangements
The festival service will operate with an aggregate of 19 coaches designed to accommodate varying passenger budgets. Air-conditioned travel receives significant emphasis, with 10 third AC coaches forming the bulk of the rake. For passengers relying on standard non-AC accommodations, the composition includes 4 sleeper class coaches. Additionally, 3 unreserved general coaches are designated for spontaneous travelers, alongside a single SLR coach to serve baggage and operational requirements.
Outbound Journey: New Delhi to Danapur Schedule
The outbound service, running under train number 04090 from New Delhi to Danapur, will be available from October 2 through November 20. Departing New Delhi every Friday night at 23:30, the train reaches Delhi Junction at 23:55 and resumes its run at 00:05. It pulls into Ghaziabad Junction at 00:48 before leaving at 00:50, subsequently passing Chipiyana Buzurg at 01:00.
Its journey continues down the mainline to Aligarh Junction, stopping from 01:45 to 01:47, followed by Tundla Junction from 02:50 to 02:52. Passengers boarding in the Kanpur belt can catch the train at Govindpuri between 06:25 and 06:30 in the morning. At Prayagraj Junction, the halt spans from 08:55 to 09:05. After crossing New West Cabin at 11:00, it halts at Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction from 11:10 until 11:20. Entering Bihar, the train stops at Buxar between 12:30 and 12:32, then Ara from 13:20 to 13:22, before terminating at Danapur at 15:00 the following afternoon.
Return Journey: Danapur to New Delhi Timings
For the return trip, train number 04089 operating from Danapur to New Delhi has been scheduled from October 3 through November 21. Leaving Danapur each Saturday at 16:40, the service halts at Ara between 17:08 and 17:10, followed by Buxar from 17:50 to 17:52.
Upon crossing back into Uttar Pradesh, it arrives at Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction for a halt between 21:00 and 21:10, passing New West Cabin at 21:25. The midnight halt at Prayagraj Junction extends from 00:05 to 00:15. In the early morning hours, it reaches Govindpuri from 02:50 to 02:55, stops at Tundla Junction from 05:08 to 05:10, and reaches Aligarh Junction between 06:30 and 06:32. Proceeding past Chipiyana Buzurg at 08:10, the train calls at Ghaziabad Junction from 08:15 to 08:17, stops at Delhi Junction from 09:00 to 09:10, and terminates at New Delhi at 09:45 Sunday morning.
