A pursuit of online attention turned fatal in Odisha's Boudh district late Friday night when a minor boy was run over by a train while filming a video alongside the Khordha-Bolangir railway track. The collision proved fatal on the spot, ending the life of a teenager whose high-risk social media content had previously drawn local concern.
Resident of Talupali in Baunsuni Police Limits
The deceased teenager was an inhabitant of Talupali village, situated under the jurisdiction of the Baunsuni police station in Boudh district. He had gained local notoriety on social media platforms for frequently recording videos, several of which had circulated widely due to the perilous nature of the stunts he attempted.
Prior Police Caution to the Family
His hazardous habits had previously attracted the attention of law enforcement authorities. Officers had summoned his family members in the past, cautioning them explicitly about his dangerous conduct and urging them to prevent him from undertaking life-threatening activities. Despite these warnings, he allegedly continued staging hazardous content in risky environments.
Police Inquiry Underway into Incident Circumstances
Upon receiving notification of the fatal accident, personnel from the Baunsuni police station arrived at the scene and recovered the boy's body. Investigators are currently examining the precise setting of the collision, as the exact manner in which he was shooting the clip and how he ended up in the path of the oncoming train remain under inquiry.
Dangers of Stunts on Active Tracks
The tragedy underscores the severe perils associated with performing reckless stunts near active railway infrastructure for social media fame. Standing beside tracks or attempting shots near high-speed trains leaves virtually no margin for error, as estimating arrival speeds is deceptively difficult, and a lapse lasting mere seconds can prove fatal.
