Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a blistering critique against opposition parties following intense demonstrations across the national capital on Saturday. Sharing her remarks on social media platform X, the Chief Minister characterized the turbulent events on Delhi's streets as deeply unfortunate. She argued that calculated efforts were made to disrupt ordinary life across the metropolis, though swift action by law enforcement prevented broader chaos from taking root.
Allegations of Deliberate Provocation and Street Chaos
Addressing the tensions directly, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta claimed that demonstrators aligned with the Congress, AAP, the Left, and CJP engaged in disruptive conduct under the pretext of holding a demonstration. She stated that Delhi Police and paramilitary security forces working diligently to maintain public order were deliberately provoked in an effort to incite street confrontations. According to the Chief Minister, the demonstrations aimed to dismantle the harmonious environment of the capital city.
Praising residents for their composure throughout the disruption, Gupta expressed gratitude to the people of Delhi for showing notable patience and understanding. She remarked that while ideological agitators exerted every effort to spoil the city's peaceful atmosphere, the steadfast commitment of security forces ensured that order was successfully preserved.
Praise for Delhi Police and Commitments on Public Safety
Commending the on-ground personnel who managed public movement during the tense hours, the Chief Minister extended special recognition to law enforcement teams. She stated, "I especially thank the personnel of Delhi Police. They did not lose patience, handled the situation with complete responsibility, and prioritized citizen safety above all."
Gupta reiterated that the administration remains firmly dedicated to safeguarding normal civilian routines, personal safety, and uninterrupted public transit for every resident of the capital. She emphasized that law enforcement agencies would act with unyielding resolve against disruptions and maintain public order without compromise.
Sharp Political Rebukes Directed at Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal
In her message on X, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directly confronted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal. She asserted that both figures, having faced continuous electoral rejection from the public, were collaborating with their associate group CJP to turn Delhi into an arena of political strife. She questioned why opposition figures were seeking to vent the frustration of persistent political defeats upon ordinary commuters and working residents.
The Chief Minister highlighted the severe disruption caused to everyday citizens, asking who would bear accountability for employees traveling to workplaces, daily wage earners sustaining their households, and patients attempting to reach healthcare facilities. She questioned whether narrow partisan goals held greater importance than the livelihoods, safety, and tranquility of millions of families residing in Delhi.
Electoral Mandate, PM Modi's Milestone, and Supreme Court Challenge
Reflecting on the wider political context, Gupta stated that the electorate in Delhi had decisively backed governance and developmental progress. She noted that public support enabled PM Modi to create history in Indian electoral politics by securing a third consecutive term as Prime Minister. She argued that dynastic and opportunistic political formations simply could not accept this sweeping mandate.
Turning her criticism toward Arvind Kejriwal, Gupta said that leaders who previously assumed the title of the master of Delhi were attempting to compromise civilian peace for narrow political relevance. She affirmed that no group would be permitted to hold Delhi hostage, promising that attempts to foster disorder under the guise of democracy would be met with firm administrative resolve. Meanwhile, the administrative detention of several opposition figures in connection with the demonstrations has been challenged before the Supreme Court, where a special bench is scheduled to conduct a hearing on Sunday.
