Over the past 48 hours, states including eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana have recorded substantial rainfall. Meteorological assessments indicate that these regions are unlikely to experience immediate relief, with persistent downpours expected over the next two to three days.
Severe Downpours and Strong Winds Across Eastern and Northern Belts
Widespread precipitation is anticipated across extensive areas of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Sikkim during September 25 and 26. Alongside heavy showers, these regions are likely to experience strong winds gusting between 40 and 50 kmph. Moving further into the week, the weather system is projected to affect Punjab, western Uttar Pradesh, and eastern Uttar Pradesh with intense spells between September 26 and 27. Mountainous terrain will also see heightened activity, with Uttarakhand bracing for heavy rainfall on September 27 and 28.
Weather Activity Across Central Regions
Atmospheric instability will keep conditions turbulent over central India as well. Eastern Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha are slated to receive localized to widespread rainfall from September 25 through September 27. In Chhattisgarh, weather conditions are forecast to intensify significantly on September 26, accompanied by brisk winds blowing at speeds around 40 kmph, with localized gusts potentially accelerating up to 50 kmph during peak storm activity.
Forecast for the Northeast and Southern Peninsular India
Northeastern states are also on alert for severe convective weather. Between September 25 and 26, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning strikes and gusty conditions are probable across isolated pockets of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Meanwhile, southern peninsular regions will witness an uptick in wet spells on September 26, when heavy rain is projected to lash parts of Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam.
