A fresh active weather system has intensified monsoon conditions across several regions of India, bringing a forecast of widespread rainfall for the next 6 days. The primary catalyst behind this atmospheric activity is a low pressure area that has developed over northeast Madhya Pradesh and its adjacent territories. According to the India Meteorological Department, eastern Madhya Pradesh is expected to experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on 21 August. Furthermore, widespread precipitation is anticipated across Central India, Northwest India, the Eastern and Northeastern states, as well as along the Western Coast.
Monsoon Resists El Nino Impact
The current weather patterns indicate that the monsoon cycle remains resilient against the dampening effects of El Nino. Often described as a monsoon disruptor, El Nino has failed to suppress rainfall activity this season due to the strong low pressure formations over the subcontinental mainland. As a result, moisture-laden winds will continue to deliver consistent rains to multiple states throughout the 6 day period.
Delhi-NCR Outlook and Humidity Surge
In contrast to the heavy downpours expected elsewhere, the Delhi-NCR region will likely see limited rain activity during the present week. However, weather forecasts point to light to moderate rainfall occurring across the capital area on Sunday. Following the weekend, temperatures in Delhi and its surrounding satellite cities are projected to climb starting next week, leading to uncomfortable and humid weather conditions for residents.
