A tragic road crash on the treacherous terrain of Himachal Pradesh has turned festive anticipation into mourning for a family. In Kullu district's Sainj Valley, a car veered off the Dhaogi road stretch and crashed into a deep ravine, killing a 20-year-old youth on the spot and leaving his travelling companion critically injured. The mishap unfolded just a day before Karwa Chauth, shattering his wife Himani and the entire household.
Vehicle Loses Control on the Dhaogi Stretch
The victim, identified as 20-year-old Krishan, also referred to as Karn, was the son of Durga Das and hailed from Kalas village within the Basa panchayat of Mandi district's Gohar sub-division. He worked as a JCB operator in the Sainj valley. After finishing his work shift, Krishan was travelling back towards his rented quarters along with his friend Prem in a car.
While negotiating the Dhaogi route, the car slipped out of control. The vehicle plunged down a steep drop of approximately 150 feet before coming to a halt on a lower road track below. The sheer impact of the fall inflicted critical injuries on Krishan, causing him to perish at the accident scene before medical aid could reach him.
Injured Passenger Rushed to AIIMS Bilaspur
The second occupant of the vehicle, identified as 25-year-old Prem, son of Roop Lal and a resident of Ropa Sainj, survived the crash with multiple grievous injuries. Given the extent of his trauma, attending medical personnel referred him to AIIMS Bilaspur for specialized intensive care.
Kullu police personnel relayed news of the late-night crash to the families of both youths over the telephone, prompting relatives to rush directly to the spot. Following the post-mortem examination, Krishan's mortal remains were handed over to the family and transported back to his native home on October 27. The untimely demise has plunged his village into grief, cutting short a young life and leaving his family in inconsolable distress.
