Law enforcement authorities in Rajasthan's Dhaulpur district have intensified their crackdown on illicit digital gambling operations with the arrest of three wanted individuals. Personnel from the Nihalganj police station apprehended the suspects for their alleged roles in managing and placing bets within an organised online network. Investigators stated that the syndicate heavily relied on WhatsApp messaging channels to conduct operations seamlessly and evade routine scrutiny. The newly arrested individuals have been identified as Ajay Sharma, Ranjit, and Harendra.
Initial Breakthrough with Kingpin Arrest in August
The unraveling of this covert digital racket originated several weeks earlier through an interception carried out by local law enforcement. On August 12, officers arrested the primary accused, Hakim Singh alias Lala, during an operation at the Gadarpura intersection. During that apprehension, police recovered Rs 16,240 in betting cash directly from his possession. Along with the currency, authorities seized a mobile phone, a calculator, a ledger tracking gambling accounts, and paper betting slips. When technical examiners scrutinized the confiscated mobile device, they uncovered evidence proving that traditional bookmaking had been scaled up into an active online gambling channel via chat groups.
Digital Forensics Expose Accomplices
A detailed examination of Hakim Singh's phone records and communication logs confirmed that multiple associates were coordinating to manage wagers from numerous participants. As digital evidence established a coordinated conspiracy, police expanded the scope of their investigation to identify all facilitators tied to the operation. The inquiry established the active involvement of Ajay Sharma, Ranjit, and Harendra, prompting police to list them as wanted suspects. Following continuous tracking, a team from Nihalganj police station successfully traced and arrested all three individuals on September 29.
