Candidates protesting against alleged irregularities and paper leaks in recruitment examinations in Jharkhand have received significant support from the arts community. Renowned actor and singer Piyush Mishra reached Ranchi to stand in solidarity with students participating in a satyagraha. He visited the protest site located at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in the state capital and interacted directly with candidates on hunger strike, offering his firm backing to their movement.
Resonating Chants and Songs at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium
During his visit to Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, Piyush Mishra sang his iconic song 'Aarambh Hai Prachand' among the gathered aspirants. The performance created widespread enthusiasm among the hundreds of young demonstrators present at the location. The protesting candidates have been demanding a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitment exams, alongside systemic reforms in the examination structure. The protest and hunger strike have been ongoing in Ranchi since July 29.
Reflection on Film Industry Silence
Addressing the students, Piyush Mishra shared that he decided to come to Ranchi after watching media interviews of the protesting youths. He expressed that witnessing the pain and desperation in their eyes motivated him to clear a two-day window in his schedule to stand beside them. Mishra stated that he felt embarrassed by the silence of the Mumbai film industry regarding such a pressing issue, noting that very few figures have raised their voices. However, he emphasized that the entire film industry should not be judged uniformly, as there are individuals within it who sympathize with the candidates' cause.
Emphasis on Discipline and Non-Political Stand
Praising the courage of the aspirants, the actor referred to them as the future of the nation and affirmed that the cause they are fighting for is crucial. While encouraging them to speak up firmly, he strongly cautioned the students to maintain dignity and discipline throughout their agitation. Mishra stressed that the demonstration must remain entirely peaceful, urging candidates to avoid foul language, insults, or any disrespectful conduct. Furthermore, he advised the students to keep their movement free from political interference to preserve the integrity of their cause.
Ground Support and Material Assistance
Piyush Mishra clarified that his involvement was not limited to verbal support. He noted that he and his associates are working to address the practical requirements of the demonstrators at the stadium site. They are helping arrange essential supplies, including food, emergency medical assistance, financial support, tarpaulins, mattresses, and carpets to improve living conditions at the protest venue. Mishra also appealed to his colleagues and citizens to step forward and provide necessary aid to the protesting students.
