Farmers preparing for the upcoming Rabi sowing season in Gonda district have received encouraging news from the local agriculture administration. Bookings have officially opened for free pulse and oilseed minikits, alongside financial subsidies ranging from 50 to 90 percent under various government agricultural programs. The initiative aims to support local growers by making quality seeds accessible and significantly lowering initial cultivation expenses.
High-Quality Seeds and Subsidies to Boost Productivity
District Agriculture Officer Chandra Prakash Singh explained that the department is focusing on delivering certified, high-yield seed varieties to farmers free of charge. Providing these improved seed minikits helps ensure better crop survival rates and higher output during harvesting. By supplying reliable seeds, agricultural authorities hope to strengthen overall crop health and boost farm productivity across the region.
Along with seed distribution, the government is extending financial assistance by offering subsidies between 50 and 90 percent on Rabi crops. To help growers adapt to modern farming practices, the agriculture department is also organizing educational exhibitions. These events showcase advanced techniques and inform farmers about active welfare schemes designed to lower input costs and maximize net agricultural income.
Mandatory Farmer Registry and Booking Process
Participation in the scheme requires farmers to be registered in the official Farmer Registry. According to Chandra Prakash Singh, growers who have already completed their registration previously do not need to register again. Such farmers can directly log into the official portal of the Agriculture Department to complete their booking application for the Rabi season.
New applicants who are not yet registered can complete the process through their nearest Common Service Center (CSC) or directly by visiting the Agriculture Department website on their mobile phones. During the booking application, farmers must present and submit essential documents, including their land revenue records (Khatouni) and bank passbook details.
Land Ceiling Rules and Timely Booking Appeal
The agricultural department has established strict land eligibility limits for receiving these benefits. Both the free seed minikits and the financial subsidies are capped at a maximum landholding limit of two hectares per farmer. Even if a farmer owns or cultivates more than two hectares of land, government subsidies and free seed distribution will strictly apply only up to the two-hectare threshold.
Highlighting the seasonal demand, District Agriculture Officer Chandra Prakash Singh urged all eligible farmers to complete their online application and booking process as early as possible. Timely registration will ensure that farmers secure their allotted seed kits and full subsidy entitlements, ultimately helping them reduce overall farming expenses and achieve profitable crop yields.
