In her letter, Barolia recalled their emotional first meeting in the aftermath of the Dharali catastrophe, when she had torn a small piece from her dupatta to tie on the Chief Minister's wrist in place of a traditional sacred thread.

The tragedy in Dharali had left numerous residents and visitors stranded under challenging conditions. She noted that although she resides in Ahmedabad this year, she could not let Raksha Bandhan pass without sending her prayers and sacred thread to her brother in Uttarakhand.
