A fresh political confrontation has erupted following allegations by Congress regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Delhi, senior BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar issued a sharp denunciation of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, contending that the opposition lawmaker consistently relies on falsehoods and misleading narratives rather than engaging in constructive governance issues.
Accusations Over Political Priorities
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who serves as the president of the BJP Kerala unit, questioned the motives behind the ongoing criticism leveled at constitutional bodies and the central administration. Addressing reporters, he said, “Rahul Gandhi is neither a protector of secularism nor of the Constitution. He is only a protector of his family's interests.” The BJP leader maintained that these political attacks serve merely as a distraction aimed at shielding personal and familial interests.
The Controversy Surrounding Online Form 6
The disagreement gained traction following claims made on October 1 by Rahul Gandhi regarding online Form 6, which facilitates the registration of new voters. The Congress MP alleged that unauthorized alterations had been introduced into the application system. Raising procedural questions, he demanded to know who within the Election Commission authorized Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to carry out the changes and which corporate official approved the execution. Adding momentum to the narrative, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh claimed the modifications were directed at the behest of the Prime Minister and Home Minister pairing.
Propaganda Comparisons and Past Electoral Claims
Responding firmly to these claims, Chandrasekhar characterized the Congress MP as an unauthentic politician who operates without any positive policy agenda. Drawing a direct historical parallel, the BJP leader remarked that the opposition's strategy mirrors the propaganda methods of Joseph Goebbels, who handled information under Adolf Hitler. He asserted that reiterating unproven claims is a deliberate tactic to confuse the public.
To substantiate his critique, Chandrasekhar highlighted previous allegations regarding election integrity. He pointed out that past claims regarding systematic manipulation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the supposed erosion of democracy repeatedly fell flat, especially during instances where the opposition secured electoral victories. He also noted that calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a traitor exemplified an extreme brand of misleading politics designed purely to sway public opinion through disinformation.
