New Strategy for Administrative Excellence
In a move to elevate governance and administrative efficiency, the government of Chhattisgarh is launching a special training program. A two day training camp dubbed 3.0 is scheduled for July, which will be held at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Naya Raipur. Notably, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and all members of his state cabinet will participate in this training. The sessions are designed to focus on emerging administrative challenges, ensuring the effective implementation of public schemes, and improving the delivery of services to the general public.
The Rationale Behind the Program
Explaining the necessity of this initiative, cabinet minister OP Choudhary stated that the government is fully committed to the goal of making Chhattisgarh a developed state by 2047. He drew a parallel between the administrative training given to IAS officers and the need for political leaders to continuously gain experience. According to OP Choudhary, the upcoming July training at IIM is part of a 3.0 program, which will provide significant benefits to the cabinet. He emphasized that the process of learning must be continuous, as stagnation occurs when one stops learning, and this program will offer fresh ideas and insights.
Opposition Criticism
The decision to send ministers to IIM for training has been criticized by Chhattisgarh Congress president Deepak Baij. He argued that instead of focusing on training, the entire government should issue an apology to the people of Chhattisgarh. He further alleged that ministers are preoccupied with extortion. Regarding a recent high level meeting held at the CM House, Deepak Baij suggested that rumors of a cabinet reshuffle have been circulating for a week. He claimed that the meeting involved a performance review of ministers, with discussions focusing on potential resignations from those with poor performance records.
