Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav visited Datia on July 13 to sound the poll bugle for the upcoming by-election. During his visit, he oversaw the filing of nomination papers for BJP candidate Ashutosh Tiwari. Addressing a large public gathering that followed, the Chief Minister declared the electoral campaign a 'victory mission.' He was accompanied on stage by state party president Hemant Khandelwal, former Home Minister Narottam Mishra, and candidate Ashutosh Tiwari. In this Datia by-election, BJP's Ashutosh Tiwari is set to face a direct challenge from Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh.
Strong Critique of Congress
During the rally, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav launched a sharp attack on the opposition party, Congress. He remarked that Congress and its ideology have never been grounded in reality. He alleged that party leaders remain disconnected from the actual situation on the ground while making lofty, unrealistic claims. The CM claimed that Congress has lost its base in 80 percent of the country and the Bharatiya Janata Party is steadily advancing under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He used a proverbial metaphor to suggest that the mindset of the Congress remains unchanged. He added that the same theatrics practiced by the past generations of Congress leaders are being carried forward by today's leaders.
Development vs. Vote Bank Politics
CM Mohan Yadav contrasted the Congress regime with the current BJP governance, noting that from 1956 until 2002-03, the per capita income was only 11,000 rupees per year. He highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this figure has risen to 159,000 rupees. Recalling the fearful atmosphere of the past, he mentioned that criminals and Naxalites once terrorized regions, but development has since transformed those conditions. He stated that Congress only engages in vote bank politics, whereas the BJP focuses on holistic progress. Referencing the decline of Naxalism, he added that under the Prime Minister's leadership, the 'Red Salute' has effectively been given a final farewell.
Commitment to Datia's Growth
The Chief Minister assured the people of Datia that there would be no shortage of development work. He stated that if the residents of Datia request infrastructure projects worth even 100 crore rupees, the government is fully prepared to execute them. Citing ongoing projects in Guna and Shivpuri, he pointed out that the state has recently received investment proposals worth 40,000 crore rupees. He also mentioned the progress seen in Ujjain following the construction of 'Mahakal Lok.' The Chief Minister clarified that his government intends to designate every location visited by Lord Shri Ram and Lord Shri Krishna as a pilgrimage site.
UCC and Ideology
Discussing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), CM Yadav questioned why there should be different laws for different sections of society when the nation follows one constitution, one leader, one national anthem, and one flag. He accused Congress of avoiding discussion on this matter. He emphasized that the BJP is not a party of royals, but a party of dedicated workers who uphold Sanatan culture. He urged party workers to remain vigilant, warning that the opposition might attempt to mislead the public. The Chief Minister concluded by expressing confidence that, with collective effort, the BJP will secure a grand victory in this by-election.
