In the politically significant Bankipur constituency of Bihar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has executed a major late-stage strategic shift for the upcoming by-election. Shortly after the previously declared candidate, Abhishek Sinha, also known as Abhishek Bunty, withdrew his nomination, the party announced 32-year-old Neeraj Kumar Sinha as its new nominee. A particularly noteworthy detail is that when the call from the party leadership came, informing him of his candidacy, Sinha was not in a high-level political meeting but was on the ground at a polling booth, actively distributing election slips to workers.
An Unexpected Call to Leadership
Neeraj Kumar Sinha recounted that he suddenly received a phone call from the party leadership, instructing him to reach the state office immediately. Initially, he could not fathom why he was being summoned. However, upon arriving at the state office, he was officially informed of his selection as the party's candidate for the Bankipur assembly seat. Following the announcement, he received a warm welcome at the party office, where fellow workers celebrated his new role.
Emotional Response to the Party Nomination
Expressing his reaction after the announcement, Neeraj Kumar Sinha was visibly emotional. He admitted that he had never even dreamt that the party would entrust a common worker like him with the candidacy for such a prestigious seat like Bankipur. He stated that this represents the greatest honor of his life. Thanking the top leadership of the BJP, he noted that by placing faith in a grassroots worker, the party has proven that hard work and dedication to the organization are deeply valued within the BJP framework.
Sinha extended his gratitude to BJP National President Nitin नवीन, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior leaders. He promised that he would strive to live up to this trust and honor the responsibility bestowed upon him by the party.
A Legacy of Organizational Commitment
Neeraj Kumar Sinha is widely recognized as a dedicated and active grassroots worker for the BJP. He has served in the organization for a long period and has held the position of Mandal President twice. Currently, he serves as the president of the Narendra Bharti Mandal. His consistent involvement in organizational activities and his strong rapport with party workers were key factors behind the leadership's decision to trust him with this responsibility.
His family has been linked to the ideologies of the Jan Sangh and the BJP for many years. It is said that his uncle was a prominent worker during the Jan Sangh era and played a significant role in strengthening the organization. The local party unit, the Narendra Bharti Mandal, was named in his uncle's honor, and today, Sinha continues to lead that very unit.
A High-Stakes Battle in Bankipur
The Bankipur assembly seat is counted among the most high-profile constituencies in Bihar. By selecting a dedicated organizational worker rather than a high-profile political face, the BJP has introduced a new dynamic to the race. Neeraj Kumar Sinha now faces the dual challenge of defending this traditional BJP stronghold while also carrying the responsibility of securing a win in his maiden assembly election. In this contest, Sinha will be competing against candidates such as RJD's Rekha Gupta and Jan Suraaj's Prashant Kishor.
