Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a special breakfast meeting on Friday for newly inducted lawmakers within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) during the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament. The meeting brought together parliamentarians from the NCPI, formed by rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) members, alongside MPs who transitioned to the ruling coalition from the Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena. While the interaction unfolded in a warm and comfortable atmosphere, PM Modi voiced serious concern regarding the frequent disruptions and house adjournments caused by opposition protests, emphasizing that persistent parliamentary standoffs harm democratic functioning.
Concerns Over Parliamentary Standoffs and Democratic Values
Addressing the assembled lawmakers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed that the smooth operation of parliamentary proceedings is essential for national progress. He expressed dissatisfaction with the continuous noise and opposition demonstrations that have halted constructive debate in the house. During his discussion with NCPI parliamentarians, the Prime Minister highlighted that repeated operational bottlenecks prevent representatives from raising critical public issues, urging lawmakers to uphold parliamentary decorum while staying focused on governance and public service.
Lifestyle Guidance and Health Advice for Parliamentarians
Beyond legislative affairs, Prime Minister Modi shared personal health and wellness advice with the attending MPs. He encouraged them to refine their daily schedules, practice yoga regularly, and maintain strong physical fitness. The Prime Minister pointed out that a healthy routine allows public representatives to execute their official duties more efficiently and address constituent needs with greater energy, a recommendation that received positive responses from the attending lawmakers.
NCPI MPs Outline Commitment to Viksit Bharat
A total of 19 NCPI parliamentarians attended the breakfast session with the Prime Minister. Following the interaction, NCPI MP Jagdish Basunia shared that PM Modi guided them on contributing meaningfully toward the goal of a Developed India (Viksit Bharat). Basunia noted that their group remains committed to delivering central government welfare schemes directly to the residents of West Bengal, confirming their internal solidarity and noting that Yusuf Pathan stands firmly with their group. Similarly, NCPI MP Rachna Banerjee described the invitation as a privileged opportunity, stating that the Prime Minister expressed a clear desire to see normal parliamentary operations restored in the national interest while asking supporters to remain confident in their collective decisions.
Separate Dialogue with Shiv Sena MPs and Direct PMO Access
In a separate session, Prime Minister Modi held focused discussions with newly joined Shiv Sena parliamentarians. He took detailed updates regarding individual Lok Sabha constituencies, reviewing active development initiatives and ongoing infrastructure projects. The Prime Minister advised the MPs to optimize government resources for accelerating local development. Furthermore, he assured the lawmakers that if any development project encounters bureaucratic delays or hurdles, they can directly contact the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) for prompt resolution.
