Political friction has intensified in Maharashtra following a fierce exchange over India's economic performance and the legacy of party symbols. Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC launched a sharp counterattack against Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge for questioning the country's 7.8 percent GDP growth rate. She also directed tough questions at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his organizational visit to Nashik while asserting her faction's legitimate claim over the party's 'bow and arrow' election symbol.
Shaina NC Rebuts Kharge on GDP Growth and PR Claims
The controversy broke out after Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge took to social media platform X to criticize the central government's economic trajectory amidst the 7.8 percent GDP expansion figures. Kharge remarked that when evaluating the national economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's promotional drive resembles a saga of "lights, camera, and inaction." Responding forcefully to the critique, Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC stated that Kharge appears to understand only one version of GDP, which stands for the "Gandhi Family Development Program."
Targeting the opposition's rhetoric, Shaina NC emphasized that a 7.8 percent economic growth rate is not manufactured inside publicity units or generated during Congress press conferences. Instead, it is earned through hard work in agricultural fields and commercial transactions in retail shops. She reminded the opposition that during Congress rule, achieving even a 4 percent growth rate was celebrated as a miracle, whereas today a 7.8 percent growth milestone is dismissed as mere publicity. She underscored that attaining 7.8 percent GDP growth despite headwinds such as 50 percent tariffs imposed by America and geopolitical conflicts in Ukraine and Iran represents Prime Minister Narendra Modi's solid performance rather than PR stuntmanship.
Shiv Sena Defends Claim Over Bow and Arrow Symbol
Addressing the demand raised by the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction to freeze the iconic 'bow and arrow' symbol, Shaina NC clarified that the emblem was never bought or arbitrarily assigned. She asserted that the symbol was secured through grassroots struggle in 2022 when workers and leaders united together.
Invoking the principles of party founder Balasaheb, she pointed out his famous belief that an army belongs to the commander who holds the loyalty of its soldiers. With 60 MLAs and 13 MPs backing the current setup alongside growing popularity for Eknath Shinde in local governance, she questioned how anyone could dispute where the true Shiv Sena lies. Shaina NC highlighted that the bow and arrow is not merely an electoral graphic but a 60-year-old ideology grounded in public trust. She remarked that from auto-rickshaw drivers to street-side vada-pav vendors, common citizens recognize that supporting the bow and arrow means standing with Eknath Shinde.
Advice for Rahul Gandhi During Nashik Visit
Shaina NC also commented on Rahul Gandhi's arrival in Nashik for a high-level Congress party meeting. While extending a polite welcome to the Congress leader in Maharashtra, she suggested that he explore local destinations like Sula Vineyards and witness the cultural heritage of the Kumbh Mela, while refraining from spreading misleading narratives.
She remarked that the youth and students of Nashik are astute thinkers who do not derive their understanding from 'WhatsApp University.' Welcoming him to carry out political work in the state, she urged Rahul Gandhi to articulate his perspective on India achieving 7.8 percent GDP growth, expanding job opportunities to the tune of 10 crore, and reaching new heights through space missions such as Chandrayaan.
