With the Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections drawing near, political parties across the state are ramping up their outreach and organizational efforts. Amidst this backdrop, the Nishad Party held a worker convention in the Ballia district. A peculiar incident occurred during the proceedings when party national president Sanjay Nishad was in the middle of addressing his supporters; the power suddenly failed, leaving him to continue his speech under the beam of a flashlight.
Blackout during a bold claim
The tone of the speech delivered by Sanjay Nishad was notably aggressive. He was in the process of declaring that all vacant land belongs to his party when the lights cut out immediately after he finished the sentence. During this address, he turned his focus toward Kanak Pandey, a member of his own party, warning him that his own community members were opposing him. Nishad explicitly stated that if the Brahmin community continued to protest against the Nishad society, Pandey would struggle to win even a village head election, let alone become a legislator.
Sequence of controversial remarks
This heated outburst stemmed from a previous statement made by Sanjay Nishad in Ballia, where he had referred to locals as brokers. This remark had triggered a protest by some youths outside the PWD Guest House, whom Nishad assumed were representatives of the Brahmin community. In response to the accusations, Kanak Pandey clarified that the entire Brahmin society stands with him and that the protesting youths were actually associated with the Congress party, not the Brahmin community at large. Furthermore, during the convention, Sanjay Nishad insulted the president of the women's wing on stage, questioning her sight, and also demeaned the party workers in attendance by dismissing them as hired individuals rather than dedicated party members.
