With this new addition, the total strength of the committee has expanded to 10 members.

According to the rules of procedure and conduct of business in the assembly, Prashant Kishor has been nominated for the remaining period of the 2026-27 financial year, which spans the next 7 months. His tenure on the committee will continue until March 31, 2027. While committee chairpersons are typically chosen from among senior and veteran legislators, debutant MLA Prashant Kishor may also find himself inducted into additional committees in the near future.

The panel was originally formed following the approval of Speaker Prem Kumar on March 31 and April 1, 2026, alongside 20 other legislative committees. Previously, the tourism industry committee consisted of one chairperson and 8 members, but the inclusion of Prashant Kishor brings the total member count to 10.

The committee is chaired by Manoranjan Singh, popularly known as Dhumal Singh, who is a heavyweight leader of the Janata Dal United and a six-time MLA. He secured victories for his first three terms from the Baniapur seat in Saran district and subsequently won three more terms from the Ekma assembly constituency. Regarded as a formidable political figure with substantial local influence, he has now been entrusted with heading the crucial tourism panel to guide legislative oversight.

Prashant Kishor stands as the sole representative of the Jan Suraaj Party in the assembly, having taken his oath as an MLA on August 17. He clinched the Bankipur by-election by defeating BJP candidate Neeraj Sinha by a margin exceeding 19,000 votes. The seat had fallen vacant following the resignation of BJP national president Nitin Nabin. Bankipur was historically considered an unyielding bastion for the BJP, with Nitin Nabin's father, Naveen Kishore Sinha, also having served as its MLA. This high-profile electoral victory has significantly boosted the morale of the Jan Suraaj camp as they navigate state politics.
