He sent a fresh resignation letter dated August 17 to BJP national president Nitin Nabin, requesting that his exit be formally accepted. Poonawalla had originally presented his resignation from all posts and primary membership on July 30. At that time, the party leadership refrained from accepting the resignation immediately and advised him to reconsider his choice. In his latest correspondence, he explained that extensive thought led him back to the conclusion that he should be relieved of his duties as national spokesperson and active primary member. He noted that recent developments over the past few days served only to strengthen the rationale behind his initial decision.

In his letter to the party head, Poonawalla pointed out that events involving certain individuals compelled him to adhere to his previous decision. He highlighted that he had already informed the top leadership in detail regarding these specific issues and persons. However, Poonawalla was careful to dismiss any suggestions of personal bitterness or grievance against the leadership. He maintained that his decision stems from objective assessment rather than resentment, choosing to move forward without harboring ill will toward the party structure or its leadership.

He wrote, 'I am leaving the system, not individuals or ideology.' He affirmed that he will continue to back national goals such as 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Make India Great Again' whenever and wherever possible from outside the political framework.

Addressing the primary motivators behind his exit, Poonawalla cited pressing personal and financial requirements. He disclosed that he is currently navigating serious personal and financial constraints, which prompted his decision to transition into the private sector. By moving into the professional corporate space, he aims to resolve these practical challenges while maintaining a non-partisan support for key national initiatives and the broader developmental agenda championed by the Prime Minister.
Expressing Gratitude to Senior Leadership
Reflecting on his tenure with the ruling party, Poonawalla expressed heartfelt gratitude for the guidance and opportunities he received over the years. He extended specific thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Nitin Nabin, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and National General Secretary (Org) BL Santhosh. Poonawalla noted that the platform provided to him over the last 5 years was instrumental in his growth. He highlighted that as a young, Pasmanda Muslim without dynastic political backing, finding such space and representation within a major political party was a deeply meaningful milestone in his career.
