Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has extended his warmest congratulations to Lok Sabha MP and former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb following his appointment as a national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Strengthening Party Organisation
Stating that the newly appointed leader brings extensive administrative background and robust grassroots leadership to the table, the chief minister expressed confidence that these qualities will significantly boost the organisational framework of the party across the country. In a message shared on social media, he wished him abundant success in taking on this crucial national responsibility.
A Look Back at Political Milestones
Biplab Kumar Deb took charge as the state president of the party in Tripura back in 2016, successfully leading the campaign that brought an end to twenty-five years of Left Front rule. He subsequently assumed office as chief minister in 2018. Following directives issued by the central leadership of the party, he stepped down from the chief ministerial position in 2022. Once he left that office, he immediately threw himself into key organisational duties, actively participating in electoral campaigns across Haryana and West Bengal where the party ultimately secured victories.
National Reshuffle and New Appointments
The Tripura leadership also extended warm greetings to all newly named office-bearers, noting that the fresh team will play a vital role in expanding operations. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party national president Nitin Nabin, this energetic team will empower workers and accelerate the mission of Viksit Bharat, as noted in separate remarks. The party announced its revamped national team on Monday, designating thirteen national vice presidents, which includes prominent figures such as Ram Madhav, Lok Sabha MP D Purandeshwari, and Tirath Singh Rawat. Furthermore, Union Minister Piyush Goyal was named national treasurer during this extensive organisational reshuffle.
Key Leadership Retention
The party chose to retain B L Santhosh as National General Secretary (Organisation) while naming former Union minister Smriti Irani alongside Biplab Kumar Deb as part of its eight national general secretaries, based on the official list released by the central office.
