Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has firmly dismissed any possibility of forging an electoral alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal for the upcoming Punjab assembly elections. Interacting with reporters in Tanda, located within Hoshiarpur district, on Saturday, Saini made it clear that the Bharatiya Janata Party is focused entirely on building a direct partnership with the people of Punjab and will form the next state government on the strength of their backing.
Banking on the Governance Record of Narendra Modi
Elaborating on the party's election strategy, the Chief Minister stated that the BJP will seek the mandate of the electorate based on the governance track record and development initiatives undertaken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Quashing speculation regarding any reconciliation with former allies, he underlined that there is no alliance in the works and that the party's only commitment remains with the ordinary citizens across the state.
Drug Menace and Criticism of the AAP Administration
Saini was visiting the state in connection with the BJP's 'Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra'. During his address, he launched a sharp attack against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party over the worsening drug crisis in Punjab. He argued that successive regimes in the state had failed to curb the spread of narcotics effectively, and that the situation has deteriorated even further under the current AAP administration.
The Chief Minister highlighted that prior to assuming office, AAP had made extensive commitments to the electorate, including eradicating drugs within a span of three to six months. He also noted that promises regarding employment generation for youth and guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers remain unfulfilled, alleging that none of these core pledges have materialized on the ground.
Concerns Over Law and Order and Rising Crime
Linking the widespread availability of narcotics directly to the deterioration of social stability, Saini pointed out that maintaining law and order while checking criminal activities is the fundamental duty of any government. He asserted that the current state administration has fallen short on this crucial front. Saini urged the youth of Punjab to stay away from harmful substances and actively participate in efforts aimed at making the state drug-free, adding that the BJP yatra aims to inspire young people toward constructive paths.
Spiritual Visit to Gurdwara Nanak Darbar
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Saini paid obeisance at Gurdwara Nanak Darbar near Kotli Jand on the sacred occasion of the 532nd Prakash Parv of Baba Sri Chand Ji Maharaj. Reflecting on the spiritual significance of the day, he remarked that such occasions represent Punjab's deep cultural and spiritual traditions, which champion universal values of humility, mutual affection, equality, compassion, and community service.
He encouraged the younger generation to draw inspiration from the noble teachings of Baba Sri Chand Ji Maharaj and Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Saini stressed that young people should channel their potential into academics, sports, career development, entrepreneurship, and social welfare, emphasizing the collective responsibility required to preserve social harmony.
