The incident took place aboard train number 22674, the Mannargudi-Jodhpur Express. A 26-year-old passenger named Sharda was traveling in the unreserved general coach along with her husband and five to six female family members, headed toward Jodhpur. Shortly after the express train departed Kota railway station at 05:35 in the morning, Sharda began experiencing severe contractions. With the train running between stations, the sudden onset of labor caused acute panic and distress among her family members inside the packed coach.

Meanwhile, inside the running train, the birth had already taken place safely with the assistance of accompanying family members, resulting in the birth of a healthy baby boy.
