The confrontation began when authorities allegedly prevented two newly elected Congress councillors from completing their formal induction. As news of the administrative intervention spread, Congress MLA Lalit Yadav along with assembly in-charge Sanjay Yadav and dozens of party workers rushed to the premises, leading to heated arguments with local administrators and law enforcement officers.
Allegations of Obstruction During Swearing-In
The two elected councillors from the Bardod municipal board had arrived at the office to take their oath before Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) Neha Rathi. According to party representatives, administrative staff and on-duty police personnel deployed inside the chamber actively attempted to stop them from completing the mandatory swearing-in formalities. Leaders alleged that officials tried to forcibly evict the elected members from the room to stall the democratic process. This prompted MLA Lalit Yadav to question the neutrality and functioning of the local administration.
Claims of Physical Manhandling by Senior Police Officer
The dispute intensified further as the protest escalated inside the administrative building. MLA Lalit Yadav and Sanjay Yadav accused Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Suresh Khinchi of misbehavior and physical manhandling while they were attempting to lodge their formal objection. The leaders contended that the police machinery acted in an aggressive manner against public representatives rather than ensuring a smooth procedure. However, the police administration and civil authorities have not yet issued their formal counter-statement regarding these allegations.

Aggrieved party workers gathered in large numbers outside the administrative complex, raising slogans against the local bureaucracy. As tensions mounted throughout the tehsil premises, senior authorities called in substantial police reinforcements to seal off sensitive points and prevent any breakdown of law and order. Reacting strongly to the incident, Congress state unit chief Govind Singh Dotasra took to X, alleging that democratic norms are being violated across the state under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma's governance.
