Anticipating a significant surge in passenger traffic during the festive period, railway authorities have announced the operation of a special festival train between Khajuraho and Rundhi. This dedicated rail service will feature a scheduled halt at Dholpur, providing substantial convenience to local commuters during their festive travels. The primary objective behind launching this train is to ease the heavy rush on regular routes and offer travellers additional travel alternatives during Diwali and other major celebrations.
The festival special train will remain operational from October 15 to November 17, completing a total of 15 trips in both directions during this period. The introduction of this service creates an extra commuting option for individuals traveling between Khajuraho, Agra, Mathura, Gwalior, Jhansi, and surrounding regions. Regular trains typically experience severe overcrowding during the festive season, and this supplemental service is expected to help manage the heavy passenger volume effectively while ensuring smoother journeys.
Timings and Route Schedule
Departing from Khajuraho, the special train will leave at 5:00 PM and reach Rundhi at 6:00 AM the following morning. On the return journey, the train will depart from Rundhi at 6:45 PM and arrive back in Khajuraho at 6:05 AM the next day. The operations will follow this fixed schedule across the entire duration in both directions. Throughout its transit, the train has been assigned stoppages at several key stations to maximize accessibility for travelers boarding from different locations.
Alongside Dholpur, the train's itinerary includes stops at major stations such as Morena, Gwalior, Datia, Jhansi, Agra Cantt, and Mathura. This extensive routing ensures that passengers boarding from these prominent hubs receive additional transit options during the festive rush. The service will prove particularly useful for residents of Dholpur seeking direct connectivity toward Khajuraho and Rundhi. Furthermore, the integration with major junctions like Agra Cantt and Mathura grants travelers seamless onward connectivity for longer journeys.

The festival special train will be equipped with a total of 20 ICF coaches to accommodate the high volume of travelers. This configuration includes 5 sleeper class coaches and 12 general category coaches.
