A five-year-old panther, which had strayed far from its natural forest habitat, suddenly found its way into a densely populated residential and commercial neighborhood. The sheer presence of this massive and unpredictable wild predator sent ripples of panic across the entire urban landscape, forcing ordinary citizens to run for their lives in search of safety. The entire harrowing sequence of events was clearly captured on multiple local surveillance cameras, visually documenting just how frightened and aggressive the displaced feline had become. Wildlife experts often note that animals wander into human settlements in search of food, water, or territory, and this particular incident quickly evolved into a terrifying prime example of modern human-wildlife conflict.
The Early Morning Panic Begins

The wandering panther was first spotted roaming near a commercial warehouse adjacent to the busy Pipli square. Desperate to find a safe hiding spot away from the commotion, the panther bolted toward the Koli neighborhood. It quickly sought refuge inside an old, dilapidated building that had been largely abandoned. This massive accumulation of people only served to heighten the tension, making the trapped animal even more stressed and prone to defensive aggression.
The Initial Rescue Attempt and First Attack
Information about the large predator cornered in a residential area was immediately relayed to the local forest department. Understanding the high stakes of the situation, forest associate Rakesh Saini was the first responder dispatched to assess the ground realities. While he was attempting to evaluate the complex environment and manage the growing crowd outside the ruined house, the panther, concealed in the dark corners of the structure, launched a sudden and powerful ambush from behind. This unexpected and swift attack left Rakesh Saini severely injured on the ground. Feeling completely surrounded by humans, the agile animal then escaped the confines of the building. The Panther Enters a Local Liquor Shop
Navigating its way across the interconnected roofs, the exhausted but dangerous panther eventually reached the bustling Ganpati Plaza commercial area at around 8:40 AM. The front metal shutter of a local liquor shop named Jai Shri Om Banna Wines was completely rolled up, and the animal darted straight inside the open establishment. At that exact moment, a salesman named Sanjay Gurjar was inside the store, entirely engrossed in his routine morning cleaning duties. Giving him no time to react, the panther launched a direct and life-threatening assault on him. Realizing his life was in imminent danger, Sanjay gathered immense courage and fought back against the predator. After a brief but intense physical struggle, he miraculously managed to break free from the animal's grip and sprinted out of the shop to safety. Amidst this frantic escape, the wild cat took another swipe, this time attacking Fatehlal Koli, a bystander who happened to be sitting right outside the shop's entrance, leaving him bleeding as well.
Immediate Medical Aid for the Injured Victims
In the immediate aftermath of this violent chain of events, all three injured individuals were urgently transported to the nearby sub-district medical hospital for emergency care. The attending medical team quickly evaluated the extent of their respective injuries and administered first aid to stop the bleeding. The lacerations and wounds sustained by the salesman, Sanjay Gurjar, were deemed exceptionally deep and critical. Given the severity of his condition, doctors decided to refer him to the main district hospital in Tonk for advanced surgical care and observation. To maintain strict law and order at the site, a heavy deployment of officials stood guard, including District Forest Officer Virendra Krishna, RFS officer Anurag Maharshi, Ranger Mohanlal Saini, Forester Surya Dev Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashish Kumar, and Station House Officer Mukesh Kumar, all backed by a massive police force.
