In a major effort to curb adulteration and guarantee food quality across Rajasthan, the state Food Safety Department has launched an extensive enforcement drive. Following thorough laboratory testing, authorities have imposed a two-month sales ban on four prominent food product brands originating from Delhi, Punjab, and Rajasthan. Alongside this product freeze, regulatory officers penalised 12 commercial eating joints and traders in Jaipur for violating mandatory health and licensing norms, sending shockwaves through the local business community.
Two-Month Ban Imposed on Four Ghee and Chili Brands
The state regulatory body initiated strict action after sample analyses revealed that certain batches of ghee and spices failed to meet prescribed safety criteria. Consequently, a temporary prohibition on sale for sixty days has been ordered against the defaulting manufacturers. The restricted items include Krishna brand deshi ghee, produced by KDP Food Industries based in the Sarnath Industrial Area of Delhi. Furthermore, GS Gold brand red chili powder, manufactured by M/s Himaya Foods Private Limited located in Fazilka, Punjab, was declared sub-standard and immediately pulled from distribution.
Regional producers within Rajasthan were similarly held accountable during the inspection. Authorities prohibited the sale of Nandi brand deshi ghee, manufactured by M/s Disha Enterprises in Balotra, for a period of two months after its samples failed quality tests. Similarly, Golden Thar brand deshi ghee, processed by Shri Samwariya Industries in the Barmer district, faced a two-month sales restriction. Inspectors confirmed that these batches compromised on fundamental purity guidelines outlined under food safety regulations.
Licenses Suspended for Nine Outlets in Jaipur
Extending scrutiny from factory floors to retail shelves and dining spaces, enforcement teams conducted surprise inspections across the capital city of Jaipur. A total of nine food businesses were penalised with temporary license suspensions after inspectors detected multiple compliance lapses, including hygiene deficiencies and disregard for operational guidelines mandated by the food safety act.
Prominent establishments affected by the suspension order include Balaji Zayka located in Vidyadhar Nagar, M/s Ganpati Dry Fruits operating in Kukarkheda, and Food Cafe situated in Nirman Nagar. Six additional retail and eatery units in the city were also served with suspension notices. These businesses have been directed to rectify all identified shortcomings before any resumption of activity is considered by regulators.
Cancellation of Licenses for Three Repeat Offenders
The regulatory authority took its most severe action against businesses that flagrantly ignored past enforcement warnings. Officials identified three entities whose food licenses had previously been suspended due to the distribution of unsafe consumables. Despite lacking active legal permits or valid registrations, these operators continued conducting business unlawfully.
Taking strong exception to this defiance, the department formally canceled the food licenses and registrations of all three non-compliant establishments. The canceled establishments are M S Balaji Zayka in Vidyadhar Nagar, M S Ganpati Dry Fruits in Kukarkheda, and The Kambu Cafe Food and Beverages in Nirman Nagar. With this revocation, any further commercial operation by these units constitutes an explicit illegal activity subject to criminal prosecution.
Regulators Reaffirm Zero-Tolerance Stance
This wide-ranging crackdown has created widespread panic among traders and manufacturers suspected of compromising on product quality. Departmental representatives reiterated that public health remains an uncompromised priority. Surveillance, sampling, and surprise inspections will persist across markets to ensure strict adherence to safety codes, with stringent punitive measures awaiting any entity violating established standards.
