In a major crackdown against substandard food products, the food safety department in Jaipur has destroyed approximately 1600 kilograms of Sohanpapdi. The action took place during a surprise raid at the manufacturing unit of Anand Dhabas, where sweets were being produced and prepared for sale in blatant violation of safety norms. During the inspection, the enforcement team discovered that a massive quantity of the prepared Sohanpapdi lacked essential details such as the manufacturing date and the expiry date. Furthermore, the inspection revealed severe lapses in hygiene and overall food safety standards at the premises.
Action Under the Special Purity Drive
This stringent enforcement action was carried out as part of an ongoing statewide campaign aimed at cracking down on food adulteration. The drive is being implemented under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Medical and Health Minister Gajendra सिंह Khinvsar to ensure that citizens have access to safe and unadulterated food items. A central team from the Food Safety and Drug Control Department executed the raid at the Jaipur-based facility. The entire operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Dr. T. Shubhamangala, Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Control.
Samples Sent to Laboratory for Testing
During the course of the raid, the food safety inspectors collected official samples of both the Sohanpapdi and almond cuttings. These collected samples are being dispatched to the state food laboratory for thorough chemical and quality analysis to check for any hidden adulterants. Viewing the absence of mandatory food labeling as a serious violation of established regulations, the department ordered the immediate destruction of the roughly 1600 kg of Sohanpapdi available on site to prevent it from reaching consumers.
Improvement Notice and Future Legal Steps
In addition to destroying the substandard sweets, the department is issuing a formal improvement notice to the establishment regarding the various other shortcomings observed during the inspection. Authorities stated that further legal proceedings under the Food Safety and Standards Act will be initiated as soon as the official laboratory test results for the food samples are received. The department continues its rigorous oversight to ensure commercial food units strictly adhere to health protocols.
