LPG consumers across Rajasthan are facing a critical deadline as state authorities and oil marketing companies mandate Aadhaar-based e-KYC verification by August 16. Out of the state's total 1.85 crore registered active LPG consumers, approximately 38 lakh individuals have yet to complete the required verification. Local distribution agencies are experiencing massive daily turnouts, with over 20,000 consumers visiting gas agencies every day. Despite these continuous visits, the sheer volume of pending accounts poses a major logistical hurdle. Consumers who fail to complete their verification before the deadline will forfeit their entitlement to subsidised domestic LPG cylinder supplies.
Company-Wise Distribution of Pending Verifications
Rajasthan hosts a total of 1.85 crore active domestic LPG connections managed across the three state-run oil marketing enterprises. Official figures indicate a significant backlog across all three networks. Indane Gas accounts for the highest number of pending verifications, with 17.3 lakh consumers yet to comply. HP Gas follows with 11.7 lakh unverified accounts, while Bharat Gas (BPCL) has nearly 9 lakh pending cases. Representatives from oil companies and LPG agency management have confirmed that non-compliant consumers will lose access to domestic tariff rates once the August 16 timeframe expires.
Three Verification Channels Available to Consumers
To assist the remaining 38 lakh consumers in meeting the upcoming deadline, oil marketing companies have deployed three distinct authentication options designed for maximum accessibility
- At-Home Online Verification via Mobile Apps: Indane users can execute authentication directly through the IndianOil ONE App. Bharat Gas subscribers can complete the process using the Hello BPCL app, and HP Gas customers can utilize the HP Pay App.
- Biometric Verification at Agencies: Customers can physically visit their nearest gas agency with their Aadhaar card to undergo biometric fingerprint verification.
- Facial Scan During Cylinder Delivery: Delivery personnel have been authorized to perform facial recognition scans using handheld devices right at the customer's doorstep during routine cylinder drops.
Regulations for Inactive Accounts and Launch of Composite Cylinders
Special guidelines apply to long-term dormant accounts where consumers have neither placed bookings nor received refills over an extended duration. To reactivate such dormant connections, account holders must visit their assigned gas agency in person, complete their e-KYC, and pay a mandatory processing charge of 426 rupees. Meanwhile, BPCL has expanded its product offerings in the region by launching its new 10 kg lightweight Zip composite LPG cylinder for the first time in Jaipur, offering domestic consumers a modern lightweight alternative to traditional steel cylinders.
