A major incident has emerged from Bharatpur district in Rajasthan, posing a direct challenge to local law enforcement. Near Kodapura village, a mining mafia group surrounded a forest department team that had arrived to take action against illegal excavation. During the sudden and violent assault, miscreants hurled stones at the team, leaving the forester in charge of the Kot checkpost with severe injuries. The injured forester was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.
Ambush While Transporting Seized Machinery
The forest department squad had received actionable intelligence regarding illegal mining activities in the region. Acting on this tip-off, the team conducted a raid and confiscated a compressor from the site. As the officials were returning with the seized equipment, the mining mafia intercepted their vehicle along the route. According to allegations, the attackers unleashed a barrage of stones on the department vehicle and personnel, causing chaos and resulting in serious injuries to the forester.
Authorities Launch Comprehensive Investigation
Upon receiving news of the assault, senior forest officials and an additional police contingent rushed to the scene. The injured employee was hospitalized, and the brazen attack has raised serious questions about the fearlessness of the mining mafia in the area. Currently, the police and the forest department are jointly probing all aspects of the incident.
Earlier Ranger Killing in Pratapgarh
The audacity of illegal mining syndicates was previously witnessed in Choti Sadri of Pratapgarh district. On September 22, forest ranger Pratap Singh was crushed to death by a dumper truck while taking action against illegal soil mining. The critically injured ranger was rushed to a medical facility, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Supreme Court Intervention
The brutal killing of ranger Pratap Singh Chundawat by a dumper truck prompted strict notice from the Supreme Court. A bench comprising Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta treated the incident with utmost gravity, directing the Rajasthan government to submit a formal response. The next hearing for the case was scheduled for October 6.
Main Accused Arrested by Police
Taking swift legal action, the police apprehended the primary accused, Kanhaiyalal. Additionally, the JCB machine and dumper utilized in the illegal mining operation were seized by authorities. The police are interrogating the suspect to uncover other dimensions linked to the episode.
