Electoral enthusiasm took a vibrant turn in Dholpur district during the Panchayati Raj institution elections, where local authorities introduced creative arrangements to enhance citizen participation. The polling booth established at Ramsevak Garg Girls School in Saranikheda was decorated with festive grandeur, drawing widespread attention and turning into a prominent talking point across the surrounding area. Visitors arriving to exercise their franchise encountered a venue designed to make voting feel celebratory and welcoming.
Vision for Increasing Voter Turnout
The transformation of this polling venue into a model voting station was executed in accordance with the direction and initiative of District Election Officer Srinidhi BT. The fundamental objective behind developing such a model setup was to raise civic awareness and encourage eligible citizens to come out to cast their ballots. By providing an attractive and comfortable atmosphere, local authorities sought to record a substantial jump in voter turnout across the constituency.
Welcoming Arch, Floor Art, and Selfie Corners
Extensive arrangements were set up across the school premises to welcome voters arriving at the location. An ornate entrance gate was built at the main perimeter, establishing a celebratory tone right from the point of entry. Vivid rangoli artwork decorated the walking paths and open grounds, complemented by informative posters placed at prominent spots to highlight the democratic value of every vote. A designated selfie point was also erected to engage young and first-time voters, offering them a dedicated backdrop to capture personal photographs right after casting their votes.
On-Site Assistance and Comfort Facilities
Care was taken to address the practical needs of people visiting the station throughout the polling hours. A well-equipped help desk was stationed near the entrance to assist voters with inquiries and navigating the booth. Emergency medical contingencies were covered through a dedicated first-aid facility, while a sheltered waiting hall was arranged specifically to give senior citizens and female voters a comfortable resting space. Cold, sweetened drinking water stations were placed inside the premises to provide refreshment from the heat.
Recreational Facilities for Children and Civic Appeal
Understanding the logistical hurdles faced by parents carrying infants and young children to voting stations, the administration installed swings and recreational setups on the campus. This allowed children to play in a secure environment while adults fulfilled their voting responsibilities without disruption. District Election Officer Srinidhi BT urged all registered voters in the area to step out of their homes, reach the model polling station, and exercise their franchise prudently. Young citizens were also encouraged to share their images from the selfie point on social media platforms to inspire others in their circles to take part in the democratic process.
