Electoral preparations have been set into motion across the rural belt of Jaipur district in Rajasthan as local body polls approach. The extensive election exercise across the district will be conducted in four separate phases to elect representatives for the zila parishad, 22 panchayat samitis, and 597 gram panchayats, establishing governance at the grassroots level.
A total of 18,99,794 registered voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in this rural election cycle. The voter roll comprises 9,85,447 male electors, 9,14,343 female electors, and 4 transgender voters who are eligible to cast their ballots across various polling locations.
Polling Schedule for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Wards
Voting for representatives of the zila parishad and panchayat samiti blocks will take place across four dedicated days. The opening phase is scheduled for October 21, covering Govindgarh, Chomu, Kishangarh-Renwal, Jobner, Jhotwara, Sambhar Lake, Dudu, and Mauzamabad.
The second voting round will follow on October 29, encompassing Amer, Jalsu, Rampura-Dabri, Shahpura, and Amarsar. The third voting round has been slated for November 4, encompassing Phagi, Madhorajpura, Chaksu, Sanganer, and Kotkhawada. Polling for the fourth and final phase will take place on November 14 across Bassi, Tunga, Jamwa Ramgarh, and Andhi.
Counting Schedule and Leadership Elections
Counting of votes cast for zila parishad and panchayat samiti seats will begin at 8 am on November 20 at the district headquarters. Following the declaration of ward tallies, elections for the positions of zila pramukh and panchayat samiti pradhan will be conducted. Subsequently, the election for the post of up zila pramukh has been scheduled for November 26.
Four-Stage Timetable for Sarpanch and Ward Panch Elections
Elections for village leadership, specifically sarpanches and ward panches, are also split into four distinct rounds with their own polling dates. The first phase for gram panchayats will be held on October 25 in Govindgarh, Chomu, Kishangarh-Renwal, Jobner, Jhotwara, Sambhar Lake, Dudu, and Mauzamabad.
The second phase follows on October 31 for gram panchayats in Amer, Jalsu, Rampura-Dabri, Shahpura, and Amarsar. The third phase is set for November 6, covering Phagi, Madhorajpura, Chaksu, Sanganer, and Kotkhawada. Lastly, the fourth round will take place on November 16 for gram panchayats falling under Bassi, Tunga, Jamwa Ramgarh, and Andhi.
Same-Day Outcome for Village Heads
Unlike the higher councils, results for village-level positions will not experience extended counting delays. Counting of ballots for sarpanch and ward panch posts will commence immediately after polling concludes on the respective voting day, with outcomes officially announced before nightfall. The election for the deputy village head, or up-sarpanch, will take place on the following day.
