A bitter feud over ancestral property took a fatal turn in the Banipark locality of Rajasthan's capital, Jaipur, on Tuesday morning. Around 7:30 AM, while elder brother Shyam was on his routine walk toward a local temple, his younger brother Murli Bagani intercepted him and launched a violent assault. The brutal strike left Shyam critically injured, and he later succumbed to his wounds during treatment at a hospital. Local police arrived promptly at the crime scene, took the suspect into custody, and initiated a detailed investigation.
Violent Ambush on the Street with Stick and Knife
According to police details, Shyam was ambushed just moments after stepping out for morning prayers. Murli struck him first using a heavy wooden stick, causing Shyam to collapse onto the pavement. While the victim lay on the ground, the assailant allegedly pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed him. The sudden violent assault alerted locals, and the critically wounded Shyam was rushed immediately to the hospital. Despite medical intervention, his injuries proved fatal and doctors confirmed his death during emergency medical care.
Simmering Resentment Over Ancestral Real Estate
Initial findings by law enforcement reveal that a protracted conflict concerning the division of ancestral inheritance had fractured relations between the two siblings. Murli was reportedly aggrieved and harbored deep anger because his elder brother was allegedly denying him his rightful portion of the family property. Investigators noted that while property discord stands out as the direct trigger for the crime, detectives are actively exploring all potential motives that could have aggravated the hostility between the brothers.
Return from Abroad After Sustaining Commercial Losses
Police disclosed that the accused, Murli Bagani, formerly resided in Belize City in the Americas. His wife and children continue to live in the United States. Following severe commercial setbacks in his business roughly 11 months ago, Murli returned to Jaipur and had been attempting to operate his business locally. Upon learning of the daylight stabbing, the Banipark police station team secured the perimeter, gathered forensic clues from the site, and detained Murli for custodial questioning.
