A severe road accident occurred late Tuesday night in Fatehpur Shekhawati, located in the Sikar district, where a chain reaction of collisions involving six vehicles took place on the Jaipur-Bikaner highway. The incident happened during heavy rainfall, which made the road surfaces extremely slippery. The crash claimed the life of a trolley driver on the spot and left another truck driver critically injured. Following the wreckage, traffic was stalled for approximately one hour, leading to a traffic jam stretching for nearly three kilometers.
Rescue Operations and Challenges
The collision was so intense that one truck driver became trapped inside his crushed cabin. The emergency response lasted nearly an hour as rescue teams worked to extricate him. Upon receiving information about the accident, local police and administrative officers rushed to the site to coordinate the rescue operation. After significant efforts, the injured driver was successfully pulled out of the vehicle and immediately transported to the hospital for urgent medical care.
Official Involvement and Site Inspection
Following the distress call, high-ranking administrative officials, including the SDM and Deputy, arrived to assess the situation and oversee the recovery efforts. Hakam Ali, the local Member of Legislative Assembly, also arrived at the scene. He assisted in the emergency procedures and held discussions with NHAI officials present on the site, directing them to expedite the clearing of the road and improve the safety of the highway.
Concerns Regarding Road Surface Quality
Local residents have pointed out that the Jaipur-Bikaner highway recently underwent a resurfacing project involving bitumen, claiming that the road becomes dangerously slippery whenever it rains. They argue that this structural issue has been the primary cause of several road accidents reported in the area over the past few days. Once the police removed the damaged vehicles with the help of cranes, traffic flow was slowly restored. According to Fatehpur Kotwali Station House Officer Mahendra Meena, the deceased's body has been moved to the mortuary, and the injured driver remains under medical supervision as authorities continue to investigate the underlying causes of the accident.
