A devastating road accident unfolded in Roorkee within the Haridwar district of Uttarakhand, where a massive collision involving four motorcycles left three individuals dead and six others fighting critical injuries. All the affected persons were rushed to medical facilities immediately following the mishap.
Late Night Crash on Kalier Road
Authorities reported on Saturday that the tragic incident took place on Friday night at approximately 10:30 PM along Kalier Road in Roorkee. The impact of the collision was so severe that all four motorcycles were reduced to mangled wrecks. Upon receiving emergency alerts, personnel from the Piran Kalier police station and Civil Lines police rushed to the site. According to official statements, three young men succumbed to their injuries right at the spot, while six others sustained serious trauma. With the active assistance of local residents, law enforcement personnel deployed ambulances to transport the injured to the Roorkee Civil Hospital for ongoing medical care.
Amidst these developments, separate reports have noted that the mastermind behind the Sambhal violence, Shariq Sata, is currently hiding in Dubai, prompting the issuance of a Red Corner Notice against him.
Identification of Victims and Eyewitness Accounts
Police identified the deceased individuals as 18-year-old Ayan, a resident of Manglaur in Haridwar, along with 24-year-old Raju and 18-year-old Rajeev, both hailing from Piran Kalier. Meanwhile, 25-year-old Aditya Chandra from Khanjarpur suffered critical injuries and has been subsequently referred to AIIMS for advanced treatment, whereas the rest of the injured continue receiving medical attention at the Roorkee Civil Hospital. Eyewitnesses recounted that the sequence of events began when two motorcycles collided head-on, causing the riders to fall onto the asphalt. Shortly afterward, two additional motorcycles plowed directly into the already wrecked vehicles and the people gathered on the roadway. Witnesses immediately dialed emergency services and stepped forward to assist the victims.
Postmortem Procedures and Prior Incidents
The mortal remains of the deceased have been dispatched for postmortem examinations, and their respective families have been formally notified. Authorities stated that investigations are currently underway to uncover further details. This accident follows an earlier tragedy on August 19 near the Manimai temple in Doiwala, where a collision between a pick-up truck and a car resulted in four deaths and three serious injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck had fled the scene following that collision, and police efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect remain active.
