Temple Doors Closing for Tilak Shringar

In observance of Amavasya, Baba Shyam will be given a sacred bath followed by the traditional Tilak Shringar ceremony. Due to these rituals, the temple doors will remain shut starting from 10:00 PM on September 16 and will reopen at 5:00 PM on September 17. Shri Shyam Mandir Committee Treasurer Ravi Singh Chauhan has urged devotees to reach KhatuDham only after the temple reopens on the evening of September 17 to avoid any inconvenience during darshan.

The Legend of Baba Shyam

Baba Shyam is revered as the supporter of the defeated and is considered an incarnation of Lord Krishna. During the Mahabharata war, when Barbarik, the grandson of Bheem, was about to enter the battlefield from the Kaurava side, Lord Krishna disguised himself as a Brahmin and asked for his head in charity. Barbarik unhesitatingly severed and donated his head to Lord Krishna. Pleased by this supreme sacrifice, Krishna blessed him that in the Kali Yuga he would be worshipped as Shyam and would become the ultimate refuge for the distressed. Ever since, Baba Shyam has been worshipped among devotees by the title of Hare Ka Sahara.
